Last week was the Arkansas Cinema Society’s Filmland 5, which had a great slate of movies. Also this week, cult filmmaker Todd Solondz visited the film department at UCA.
Hot Springs Documentary Film Fest
Spent the entire day in Hot Springs watching documentaries and day drinking. Hands down the biggest and the best film festival in Arkansas.
Bikes Blues and BBQ
Got to see the documentary Hog Town at this year’s Bikes Blues and BBQ event. Good music, good people, and some damn fine food. It was a good weekend.
Arkansas Arts Advocacy Day
Yesterday Arkansas for the Arts event at the state Capitol. Got to talk to a view state representatives about the state of the arts in Arkansas. And the responses I got makes it sound like Arkansas could and should do better.
48 Hour: The Death Rattle
I went to the Little Rock 48 Hour Film Project awards ceremony. I presented the award for Best Writing, which went to Blind Bandit Media. The Death Rattle took home best film and will be screening in L.A. with the other city winners from the overall competition.
Ghost of the Ozarks
Got a front row seat for the Arkansas Cinema Society's premier screening of Ghosts of the Ozarks at the Malco Jonesboro Towne Cinema. After the screening there was a Q&A hosted by the ASC featuring the films writers and director, Jordan Wayne Long and Tara Perry
